How Long Does a Dubai Visa Take? Processing Times for 2026

A Dubai visit visa takes 3 to 4 working days on regular processing, or 24 to 36 hours on express for $50 more. Weekends and UAE public holidays do not count towards the working days. Apply one to two weeks before you fly, and never more than 60 days ahead, because the visa must be used to enter the UAE within 60 days of being issued.

Those two numbers cover every visit visa we sell, from the 96 hour transit visa to the 60 day multiple entry visa. What changes the real wait is less the visa you choose and more what happens around it: the day of the week you apply, a public holiday in the middle, or a document that has to be sent again.

That last one matters most. The problems our team sees most often on refused applications, unclear passport scans and missing documents that some nationalities need, are the same problems that slow down the ones that are eventually approved.

Processing time for each Dubai visa

Every visa has the same two speeds. Express costs $50 more than regular on every visa.

Both timings cover the same stages: checking your documents, submitting them to UAE immigration, immigration’s own review, and sending you the decision. Express moves through those stages faster. It does not skip any of them. To compare the visas themselves, see Dubai visa types and prices.

What counts as a working day

Saturdays, Sundays and UAE public holidays are not working days, so they do not count towards the 3 to 4 days. This catches people out more than anything else on this page.

Apply on a Thursday and the weekend sits in the middle of the count, so a regular visa usually arrives around the middle of the following week rather than by Monday. Apply the day before a public holiday such as Eid and the holiday is added on top.

Express is quoted in hours rather than working days. If you are applying late in the week or just before a holiday and you fly soon, ask before you pay whether express will be completed in time for your flight.

When to apply: not too late, not too early

Not too late. If your flight is less than 4 working days away, regular processing may not finish in time. That is what express is for.

Not too early. Once your visa is issued, you have 60 days to enter the UAE. Apply three months before a trip and the visa can expire before you board. The sensible middle. One to two weeks before you fly leaves room for a public holiday, a busy week or a document that has to be sent again, without any risk of the visa running out before you travel.

Remember that your length of stay counts from the day you land, not from the day the visa is issued. A 30 day visa issued in early March for a trip in late March still gives you 30 days from arrival.

Busy periods and public holidays

Dubai’s busiest travel months run through the cooler season, roughly November to March, with the heaviest demand around Christmas and New Year. School holidays and the days around Eid are busy too, and Eid itself brings public holidays that do not count as working days.

If you are travelling in any of these periods, apply at the earlier end of the one to two week range, and do not wait until the week before to find out a document needs to be sent again.

What slows an application down

Most delays are not caused by immigration being slow. They come from something in the file.

• An unclear passport scan or photo. If the details cannot be read, including the two lines of letters and numbers at the bottom of the passport page, the application waits until a clear copy is sent.
• Details that do not match the passport. A missing middle name or a swapped digit has to be corrected before the application can continue.
• Documents your nationality needs. Some nationalities are asked for more than a passport and photograph, such as a national ID card. If these are missing, the application stops until they arrive. Our Dubai visa document checklist lists what to prepare.
• Additional checks. Some applications are selected for extra identity or security checks. These take as long as they take, and neither you nor express can speed them up.
• Public holidays and busy periods, as above.

How to keep your application on the fast track

• Photograph the passport page flat, in daylight, with all four corners visible
• Use a recent photograph on a white background, not a filtered selfie
• Copy your name and passport number from the passport itself
• Check that your passport has at least six months of validity
• Send any extra documents your nationality needs with the first application
• Apply before the weekend, not on Friday afternoon, if you can choose
• Submit once, and do not send a second application while the first is being processed

Is express worth it?

Express is worth the $50 when your flight is less than 4 working days away, when a weekend or public holiday falls between now and your flight, or when you simply cannot afford the trip slipping.

It is not worth it when you are booking two weeks or more ahead. The regular time already fits, and the $50 buys nothing you will notice.

When a delay is not normal

If your regular application has gone past 4 working days, it is usually waiting on one of the causes above rather than heading for a refusal. Check with whoever submitted it before doing anything else, and do not submit a second application, because duplicates slow both down.
