• Validity is the window in which you must enter the UAE: 60 days from the date the visa is issued, or 30 days for the GCC resident and transit visas.
• Stay is how long you can remain once you are inside: 14, 30 or 60 days, counted from the day you enter.

An extension costs from about AED 1,200, including the government fee and processing. The fee varies by nationality and visa type, and we confirm yours before you pay.

Approval takes 1 to 3 working days. Extensions cannot be fast-tracked the way new visas can. Saturdays, Sundays and UAE public holidays are not working days, so an application sent on a Friday afternoon may not move until Monday. Allow for that when you count back from your last day.

How to apply

An extension is handled by whoever issued the visa. If we issued yours, contact us before it expires: we check the fee that applies to you and submit the extension on your behalf. If another agency or sponsor issued it, the extension goes through them or through the immigration channels: the GDRFA for visas issued in Dubai, or the ICP for the other emirates.

A new 60 days visa at $325 costs about the same as one extension but gives you a full 60 days, and it does not depend on a further extension being approved.

If your visa has already expired

An expired visit visa cannot be extended. The overstay fine of AED 50 a day starts from the day after your stay ends, and you should not count on any grace period before it. Settle the fine and arrange your departure the same day, through the GDRFA for a Dubai visa or the ICP for the other emirates. The amount only grows, and a long overstay can lead to a ban.
